Teenager wins lawsuit following injury

A Springfield teenager was awarded more than $12 million after losing her leg in a lawnmower accident.

Springfield, Ore. -- A teenager who lost her leg in a lawnmower accident was awarded more than $12 million by a jury on Monday.

Isabelle Norton, now 14 years old, sued Deere and Company and her father Kirk Norton after Norton ran over her leg with a lawnmower when she was 2 years old.

On Monday, jurors found that both the company and Norton were at fault, and the lawnmower did not have adequate safety features.

The jury decided that Norton will have to pay nearly $2.7 million and Deere and Company will have to pay more than $9.5 million to Isabelle Norton, according to documents from Lane County Circuit Court.
