Lebanon Fire District swears in new fire chief

Chief Joseph Rodondi was hired after former Fire Chief Gordon Sletmoe announced his retirement.

LEBANON, Ore. -- On Tuesday night during the Lebanon Fire District Board meeting, Fire Chief Joseph Rodondi was sworn in.

Before coming to Lebanon, Chief Rodondi served previously with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department in California and is a member of the International Fire Chief’s Association.

Chief Rodondi has an extensive background in fire science. Including an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science from the College of San Mateo and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He has also received several certifications from the California State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Chief Rodondi was hired after former Fire Chief Gordon Sletmoe announced his retirement.

Following the ceremony Tuesday night, Sletmoe was awarded the flag flown on his final day as chief and a bell ringing service.
