LEBANON, Ore.--Lebanon Firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire on the 400 block of N Morton on Wednesday night. There, they found heavy fire coming from a rear bedroom.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from the outside. Fire officials said the bulk of the fire was controlled within minutes of the first arriving engine. Once they got it under control, crews were able to fully extinguish the fire from the inside of the house.

The fire destroyed one bedroom and smoke badly damaged the rest of the house. The initial loss estimate is approximately $60,000.

Crews remained on scene for approximately two hours performing overhaul and securing the structure. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Just a reminder, that smoke detectors are key to early detection of a fire and lead to a significant reduction in the loss of life and property. Make sure to check your detectors monthly.
