Lebanon firefighters rescue dog, extinguish house fire

Crews resuscitate dog after it suffered smoke inhalation.

LEBANON, Ore. – Firefighters rescued and resuscitated a dog trapped inside a Lebanon home Tuesday.


Fire crews with the Lebanon Fire District said they were called to a home on the 700 block of E. Oak Street shortly before noon on Tuesday for the report of smoke. Once on scene, crews put out a fire inside the single-story wood framed home.

Crews said they found a small dog inside which had been overcome by smoke and immediately began resuscitative efforts using a special high flow oxygen mask designed specifically for pets. They said the owner, who wasn’t home at the time, returned home to transport the dog to a local veterinarian for evaluation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
