Lebanon man dies after crash near Corvallis

Authorities said the man was driving while intoxicated.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A Lebanon man is dead after crashing into field during a police chase over the weekend, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said Michael Peacock, 28, was driving while intoxicated.

Just after midnight on Aug. 8, a caller reported a drunk driver had been parked off Highway 34 near Corvallis. They said they had talked to the driver before he drove off.

Deputies responded and found the vehicle, which was headed south on Peoria Road. They said they tried to stop the driver, but he sped off, eventually losing control and crashing.

Peacock was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, where he later died.

Authorities said Peacock was the only person in the vehicle.

Oregon State Police will investigate the crash.
