LEBANON, Ore. – A Lebanon woman has been found guilty of second-degree manslaughter in the death of a 1-year-old boy in 2019.

A Linn County jury found Amber Marie Scott, 21, guilty of second-degree manslaughter on Wednesday following a trial in Linn County that started last week. Scott will be sentenced on Thursday at 1 p.m.

The jury found Scott not guilty of first-degree manslaughter.

The incident that resulted in the boy’s death happened on Feb. 19, 2019. Lebanon fire officials responded to a residence that day on a report of an unresponsive child. The boy was taken to Lebanon Community Hospital and then flown to Doernbecher Children’ Hospital in Portland. He later died.

Police said the boy’s breathing had been restricted while he was in Scott’s care, which led to his death.

The trial was held at the Linn County Fairgrounds because of COVID-19 safety protocols.
