IDLEYLD PARK, Ore. – A Level 3 evacuation order has been issued for part of Douglas County due to the Jack Creek Fire, which has grown to 900 acres.

A Level 3 order means all residents should grab a “go kit” if they have one and leave immediately. Emergency responders may not be able to help those who choose to stay.

The order applies to all recreation areas, homes and businesses between milepost 43 of Highway 138E east to the Eagle Rock Campground.

If you are evacuating due to the fire and have pets, you can temporarily board dogs, cats and small animals at Saving Grace, Executive Director Megan Gram said. You are asked to call Saving Grace at 541-672-3907 before arriving. People who own livestock should contact Animal Control for help.

Other areas are under a Level 2 evacuation notice, which means those residents should be prepared to leave immediately. This level is in effect for everything east of Eagle Rock Campground to Soda Springs.

The Jack Creek Fire was reported at about 5 p.m. on July 5. Fire officials say it grew quickly due to the steep terrain, abundance of fuels and inaccessibility. It's burning north of Highway 138 and east of Forest Road 4713 (Jack Creek Road).

The Oregon Department of Transportation says the highway is closed between Steamboat and Slide Creek.
