LINN COUNTY, Ore. – A couple in Linn County are proud new parents after a less-than-typical delivery.

Deanna McKay, the dispatch supervisor for the Linn County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center, took a call Thursday morning from a man whose girlfriend was in labor.

“I need an ambulance,” the man can be heard saying on the 911 call. “My girlfriend’s about to give birth.”

McKay walked the man and others who were with the woman through each step to make sure mom and baby were both safe during the 10 minute call.

“Is the baby completely out now? No? Okay, have her push hard to get the baby out,” McKay said on the 911 call. “As the baby delivers, support the baby’s head and shoulders. Remember, the baby will be slippery so don’t drop it.”

After the baby was successfully delivered, it could be heard crying on the 911 call.

“Oh my goodness, listen to him,” McKay said after hearing the sounds from the baby.

The Linn County Sherriff’s Office is congratulating the family on their new baby.
