LINN COUNTY, Ore. -- The Linn County Sheriff's Office arrested two men from California after finding a large sum of cash and large duffle bags of marijuana.

The sheriff's office was called to Pioneer Villa Truck Plaza off Highway 228 east of Halsey on Saturday at about 11 a.m. after a suspicious bag was found in a motel room. An employee was cleaning the room and found a bag full of cash.

Deputies responded and contacted California resident Kyle Miller-Masel, 35, who reportedly returned to the motel room after realizing he left the bag behind. Deputies contacted the second guest, 36-year-old Jason Hartnett of California, in the parking lot. He had a large amount of cash in his pockets, they said.

During the investigation, deputies searched Miller-Masel's vehicle and found multiple large duffle bags containing marijuana residue and evidence of marijuana distribution.

Miller-Masel and Hartnett were charged with illegal import/export of marijuana, delivery of marijuana and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing.
