MILL CITY, Ore. -- A man was arrested in connection with a robbery at the Santiam Sports Center on Thursday.

Linn County deputies said Timothy Bassett, 38, entered the business and gave the clerk a note demanding money. After receiving the money, Bassett allegedly ordered the clerk to the ground with a knife and then left on his bicycle.

After the robbery, a person reported that a man was throwing items into bushes near the store.

Deputies arrived just before 4 p.m. to confront Bassett, but they said he fled the area. They chased after him and eventually took him down with the help of two bystanders.

Most of the money was recovered, deputies said.

Bassett is charged with robbery. He was taken to Albany General Hospital to be treated before being taken to the Linn County Jail.
