EUGENE, Ore. -- Today the local NAACP has teamed up with Lane Mutual Aide to provide household and school supplies free of charge. Starting at 10 am The Historic Mims House will host an all-day distribution site, which will consist of clothes, school supplies, water, household items, and more.
Community members can also sign up for additional help in going forward. The effort is also aimed at assisting the over 3000 local unhoused cope with the additional strains caused by the smoke and ongoing uncertainty.
Also, branch director Eric Richardson, said the Eugene/Springfield NAACP will work with local African American led churches to set up additional distribution sites specifically designed with the BIPOC community in mind
“We need to come together in a benevolent spirit as a society in this
time of deep crisis and change,” said Richardson.
