London Road safety corridor goes into effect soon

The safety corridor designation goes into effect this Fourth of July.

EUGENE, Ore. – Starting this Fourth of July, you could face bigger fines for traffic violations in the London Road area.

There have been several deaths and serious injuries along the road with driving under the influence and speed common factors, county officials say.

To help prevent deaths, the first seven miles of the road will be designated as a safety corridor from Latham Road to Cottage Grove Reservoir Road.

It will be in effect through July 5, 2023.
