EUGENE, Ore. - First, it was Uber that announced its launch date in Eugene and Springfield. Thursday couldn't come soon enough for supporters who've been waiting for this rideshare service to return to the area.
Then, Lyft announced it would be starting up its operation "soon" in Eugene. That announcement came Tuesday morning, followed several hours thereafter with a specific launch date of Wednesday, beating out its competition by 24 hours. About 30 people signed up to drive for Lyft at last check, according to Lyft.
Now with Uber and Lyft in town, Eugene and Springfield are thrust into the convenience of ridesharing. Along with that convenience comes the expectation of reliable service for customers. Both rideshare services allow you to rate your drivers on a 5-star scale. 5 is the highest score, 1 is the worst.
