COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – A man accused of shooting at several people near Cottage Grove was found not guilty of all charges on Monday.
Boudie Lancaster, 45, was arrested after the shooting, which happened on Aug. 3 in the 72900 block of London Road. One victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital and two others were taken from the scene by ambulance.
A jury deliberated for about seven hours before reaching their verdict, which follows a trial that began May 25 in Lane County Circuit Court. Lancaster had been charged with four counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault.
Shortly after the shooting, KEZI 9 News talked to a neighbor, who said they were in shock over the incident.
“It brings me great sadness for this time we are living in," said Gretchen Spears. "It’s such a sad thing to see these things happen.”
Others said at the time that they weren't shocked at all.
“When I saw that it was that particular neighbor, I was not terribly surprised," said Lani Wright.
