Corvallis man accused of holding acquaintance at knifepoint, demanding money

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A Corvallis man is in jail after police said he held an acquaintance at knifepoint and demanded money on Sunday.

Manuel Pinedo, 31, faces charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, coercion, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.

Police said officers responded to the 300 block of NW 15th Street at about 3 a.m. The male victim said he returned home to find Pinedo inside his bedroom and he was held in the room for over an hour. He said Pinedo threatened to cut him with the knife. The victim escaped and called police.

Officers found Pinedo at about 6 a.m. near Winco, and he was taken to the Benton County Jail.

His bail was set at $387,500.
