WALTON, Ore. – A Florence man is accused of stabbing a woman and then trying to leave the state.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said David Lucius, 56, stabbed the 42-year-old woman multiple times near the Walton post office Sunday night.
Deputies said he then took off in a white PT Cruiser on Highway 126.
Authorities alerted other law enforcement agencies south of Eugene and into California.
A short time later, a deputy in Jackson County spotted the vehicle about 40 miles north of the Oregon border with California.
Deputies were able to take him into custody after using spike strips to disable his car.
Lucius is in the Lane County Jail facing charges of attempted murder, assault and strangulation.
Deputies said Lucius knew the woman but they’re still trying to figure out what led to the stabbing.
