EUGENE, Ore. – A man was arrested Tuesday after a robbery at a Eugene Fred Meyer, police said.
Police responded to the scene at about 3:45 p.m.
An employee told police she confronted a man and a woman as they left, and the man showed a handgun.
The suspect, Isaiah Emanuel Rodriguez Ortiz, 21, and the woman drove away with stolen merchandise, police said. Their car had been rented and not returned.
Then, at about 5:30 p.m. officers responded to a dispute at the Value Inn on Highway 99N. Reports indicated a man had kicked in a hotel room door and dragged a woman into the room.
Officers learned the vehicle from the robbery was associated with the room.
Police said the woman was cooperative and Rodriguez Ortiz was detained.
The stolen property and a handgun were recovered. Police said the suspects had methamphetamine and more than 700 pills of a controlled substance.
Rodriguez Ortiz was taken to the Lane County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a firearm, menacing, felon in possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, controlled substance offense, second-degree criminal mischief and parole violation.
