EUGENE, Ore. -- One man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a man in a Eugene park Thursday afternoon, police said.

According to Eugene Police, officials were called to Gilbert Park at 4:25 p.m. When officials arrived they found the victim sitting on a bench. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that appeared not to be life-threatening.

Witnesses told officers that Joseph Conrow, 47, was being confrontational to people at the park. He reportedly got into a verbal dispute with the victim, who he knows, before stabbing him in the upper body.

Conrow allegedly left the park for a nearby residence owned by someone he knew. When officials got to the home, Conrow had already left.

According to officials, he soon returned to Gilbert Park where he was arrested on charges of assault in the second degree.
