Man arrested at rest area in connection with double homicide

Two people were found dead in a burned car in Josephine County in March.

LINN COUNTY, Ore. – An arrest made in Linn County is connected to a double homicide, Oregon State Police say.

Michael Moehring, who is the second person arrested in connection with the case, was taken into custody on a warrant the morning of May 3. The US Marshall’s Office and Oregon State Police SWAT contacted the man at a rest area.

On March 24, police say two people were found dead after a vehicle fire in Selma on forest management property. They have been identified as Daniel Hill, 24, and Paul Folk, 26, both from Josephine County. The deaths are being treated as homicide.

Suspect Harley Boitz, 26, was arrested April 1 during a traffic stop in Cave Junction. Boitz is being held in the Josephine County Jail on charges of murder, arson, abuse of a corpse, felon in possession of a firearm and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Moehring faces similar charges, according to court documents, including murder, arson, abuse of corpse and felon in possession of a firearm.
