Man sentenced for armed robbery during riot

A man convicted of robbing a person while armed during a riot in Eugene in May was sentenced this week.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A man convicted of robbing a person while armed during a riot in Eugene in May was sentenced this week.

Joseph Kashkash, 19, pleaded guilty to robbing a man at gunpoint outside a Sprint Store on 7th Avenue while it was being looted during the riot that took place on May 29.

He was convicted on charges of attempted robbery and riot. He was sentenced to three years and two months in jail. He will be on probation for three years after being released.

Five Guys, Jimmy Johns, T-Mobile, and Starbucks were among the businesses damaged during the riots, which took place the first night of Black Lives Matter protests in Eugene.
