Man arrested in Sweet Home shooting

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

SWEET HOME, Ore. – A suspect was arrested after a shooting in Sweet Home on Tuesday.

Authorities said it happened in the area of 49th Avenue and Long Street.

Officers responded to the scene at about 9:30 and found Grady Nading, 35, with a gunshot wound.

David Johnson, 64, of Sweet Home was arrested and charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Witnesses said Johnson had threatened family members of Nading with a knife, and Nading reportedly went to Johnson’s home to confront him. According to reports, Johnson fired three shots with a handgun while Nading was on the street. He was hit in the shoulder.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
