KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. --- An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting in Klamath Falls.

The Klamath County District Attorney's Office said a deputy responded to a call of a man trying to break into cars Wednesday night.

Deputies said Matthew Derby stole a vehicle and started driving the wrong way. He eventually lost control, spun out, and started driving towards a deputy. That's when the deputy shot his gun.

The deputy was not injured but Derby was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
