SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Lebanon man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home on the 400 block of W Quinalt Street in Springfield early Saturday morning.
The Springfield Police Department responded to a call from a female who reported she began hearing noises in her apartment and noticed her property thrown around throughout her kitchen area.
Police say Jeremiah Johnson Jones, of Lebanon, ran out the door once the woman saw him and confronted him.
The victim reported cash and cards were stolen.
A Eugene Police K9 Officer and his dog responded and immediately picked up a track. After going through yards, and across Prescott Lane, the police dog located Jones hiding in a fenced yard.
Jones was taken into custody without incident. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
"The police dogs are pretty impressive if it was without the police dog we would've been checking yard to yard and it would've taken a while but in this case, it turned out great," said Sergeant Pete Kirkpatrick, Springfield Police Department.
Jones was lodged at the Lane County Jail.
