Man pleads guilty to Eugene killing

A man has been sentenced in the death of a Eugene man last year.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A man has been sentenced in the death of a Eugene man last year.

Daniel Ayers, 27, admitted to shooting and killing Steven Dube, 48, on May 5, 2019, with a semi-automatic handgun.

Police responded to the 5100 block of Franklin Boulevard at about 3:30 p.m. after a witness reported the shooting. Officers found Ayers outside the location and Dube dead inside the door. He had been shot in the head.

As part of a plea agreement, Ayers pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter on Aug. 20.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and three years of post-prison supervision.
