LANE COUNTY, Ore. – With hopes of putting students in the best position to succeed in life, Lane County schools and Connected Lane County put on Experiencing Oregon Manufacturing Day.

The event aimed to show students what sort of work is available after high school.

High school students from all over the county got the opportunity to tour different local companies that offer jobs in engineering, manufacturing, technology and different trades.

Many jobs don’t necessarily require a four-year degree.

One of the local companies students got to tour was Arcimoto, an electric car startup based in Eugene. Students who got the chance to tour the business said they are excited about what a future in manufacturing looks like.

“Being able to work with a bunch of people on a specific project that everybody is so excited about and being able to bounce ideas off of each other,” Mohawk High School student Taylor Myer said.
