MAPLETON, Ore.-- After an equipment malfunction, residents in the Mapleton Water District were asked to conserve and boil water Saturday.
According to superintendent Terry Saubert, the water district's pumps are not operational after an electrical malfunction occurred at around 4 p.m. Friday. An electrician is expected to arrive and assess the situation Saturday afternoon, but it is unclear when the pumps will be operational again.
Saubert said that resident's water is currently coming from the district's reservoirs, which were at two-thirds to three-quarters full as of Saturday morning. It is too early to assess how long the reservoirs will last given current water consumption levels.
Saubert urged residents to conserve water and boil it before use to ensure health and safety.
