LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- The Lane County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol is warning boaters about two downed trees that are nearly completely obstructing the McKenzie River.

Those two trees are in the same area, roughly halfway between Hendricks Bridge County Park and Bellinger Landing.

The sheriff's office said drift boats may be able to pass the trees if they stay to the extreme right side of the river thanks to the current water levels, but warn that water levels and the position of the trees could change making it impossible to pass.

Boaters are being asked to avoid the area and put in at or below Bellinger or to take out before they reach the obstruction.

The obstruction on the McKenzie has been reported to the Oregon State Marine Board, which will decide if and when anything can be done to remove the trees.

For the latest information about this obstruction and conditions of other waterways in the state, you can visit the Oregon Marine Board website.
