NORTH BEND, Ore. – For the second year Marines will be conducting training at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

The Marine Reserve Engineer Service Company CLB-23 based in Springfield will be doing maintenance on the campgrounds and recreation site from Thursday to Sunday.

Facilities and road closures will take place near Horsfall Beach Campground & Day Use and Bull Run Staging Area.

Marines will be operating heavy equipment to level campsites and install new fire rings, picnic tables and signage.

“This has been an outstanding long-term partnership opportunity which benefits not only the Marines but improves access and enjoyment of public lands for everyone,” said Dan Matthews, recreation staff officer for the ODNRA.
