EUGENE, Ore. -- Market of Choice announced Wednesday they will be raising pay for their hourly workers.
Company officials said the extra $2 per hour is recognition for their hard work as workloads have increased due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“In the face of these unexpected and trying times, our employees have emerged as true heroes, working tirelessly to provide essential food and supplies,” says Market of Choice CEO Rick Wright.
The pay will be retroactive to March 15 and will affect around 1,200 employees. It will continue until workloads return to normal.
The store is also offering a special shopping hour for those 60 and older to help those who are vulnerable. It is scheduled from 7 to 8 a.m. on Tuesday and Fridays.
