ELKTON, Ore. -- Firefighters from DFPA, Kellogg Rural Fire Department and Elkton Rural Fire Department responded to a natural cover fire Monday afternoon.
The Martin Creek fire was located five miles south of Elkton, near the 20,000 block of Highway 138 West and officials arrived on scene around 3:00 p.m.
Strong winds pushed the fire off the ridge top and down a steep slope before being stopped at 3:30 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene until 10:30 p.m. mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.
The fire burned three-quarters of an acre is currently under investigation.
