EUGENE, Ore. – Is your student participating in a non-contact sport? New rules from the Oregon Health Authority mean masks are no longer required during competitions, as long as certain conditions are met.
Going without a mask will only apply to competitions held outdoors where at least six feet of distance is maintained between participants.
This change does not apply to training and conditioning and will not apply before and after competitions.
A non-contact sport is any sport where participants do not make contact, such as tennis, swimming, cross-country, track and field, golf and sideline cheer and dance.
The change is effective today.
