EUGENE, Ore. -- A massive CenturyLink outage is affecting customers' phone and internet service nationwide.
CenturyLink customers have been suffering from the outage since about 2 a.m. on Dec 27.
Eugene was no exception: KEZI 9 News got calls from viewers reporting experiencing issues.
Most customers in Eugene and the rest of the state have had their service restored, but there's no word from the company on how long it could take to get everyone else in the country back up and running.
A large concentration of the outage was in the Pacific Northwest. Customers were frustrated, but the problem was more serious.
Some hospitals in Oregon rely on CenturyLink for their landline phone service. The VA Portland Healthcare System was affected by the outage on Dec. 27, and it caused complications for them.
They got around the outage by rerouting callers to a working call center across the country.
CenturyLink acknowledged the outage saying they were working to restore service as quickly as possible.
