EUGENE, Ore. -- Mayor Lucy Vinis kicked off her campaign to be re-elected as Eugene's Mayor Sunday.
She was joined by dozens of supporters and donors as she explained what she did well during her current term as well as what she plans to do if she is re-elected.
Some things she touched on were the housing crisis, the homeless crisis, and the importance of emergency preparedness she says that the support of the community has been great.
She told KEZI she believes running as the current mayor gives her a better place to start than last term when she was virtually unknown.
"This time people know me and I have a record so they know what I've done," Vinis said. "They know what my style of leadership is so it feels easier in that way it potentially is harder for people if they've disagreed with something I've done because the record is there."
Other candidates still have a chance to put their names in the running.
The filing period runs through March 4.
You'll be able to vote for this election in May of 2020.
