Missing Springfield man found dead in submerged vehicle

There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.

LEABURG, Ore. -- A missing man was found dead in a submerged vehicle in the McKenzie River near Greenwood Drive Friday, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office says.

An Oregon State Police Trooper discovered the vehicle at around 11 a.m., and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Dive Team responded.

The maroon Ford Ranger was removed from the water, and the body was identified as Kenneth Brawn, 54, who had been reported missing the previous day by family when he didn’t return home from his girlfriend’s house.

There are no signs of foul play, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office will be investigating the death.
