EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead has been medially cleared to travel and coach on Saturday against UCLA.

Moorhead underwent "emergency major surgery" for a non-COVID-related illness earlier this month, causing him to miss the Stanford game on October 2nd.

"I just got to be smart and judicious with the approach because it's still technically in full recovery territory from the surgery," Moorhead said.

Moorhead, who usually coaches from the sideline, called plays from the booth against Cal on Friday.

"We were getting him back in spurts last week and towards the end of the week a little bit more," Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal said. "We have to balance it. We have to obviously have him doing what he does and at the same time making sure that he continues to get healthier. What he went through is certainly is pretty trying and pretty taxing on the body."

Moorhead was cleared to return to the office this afternoon for the first time in more than two weeks.

The Ducks and UCLA kick off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
