SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Two weeks after Springfield Police Chief Richard Lewis was placed on paid administrative leave, KEZI 9 News is learning more officers may be involved.
Multiple sources say at least four other officers were placed on paid administrative leave. KEZI did place a records request to the city to find out more information about the investigation, but officials denied the request Monday afternoon.
Last week, KEZI learned a former Woodburn police chief was hired to investigate complaints against Lewis. Documents show one of those complaints is related to the firing of a female recruit for having sex with male superiors. The city has not confirmed that this is related to Lewis being placed on leave.
KEZI appealed the public request denial and we're waiting to hear back from the Lane County District Attorney's Office.
