SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Days after former Springfield mayor Christine Lundberg stepped down, her son has been arrested on child sex abuse charges.
Benjamin Lundberg, 39, faces 10 counts of encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree.
Springfield police said the arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation into child pornography.
The Eugene Police Department and other jurisdictions in the state, including Internet Crimes Against Children, took part in the investigation.
On Aug. 13, authorities served a search warrant at a home in Springfield that led to the seizure of numerous digital devices used by Benjamin Lundberg. A forensic examination found evidence of the crimes, police said.
The man was taken to the Lane County Jail. He will be arraigned at the jail on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
A police official confirmed Benjamin was living with Christine Lundberg at the time of his arrest.
In 2017, the man was sentenced the three months in jail and two years probation for damaging 27 cars during a tire slashing spree.
