SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- One person is dead following a crash involving a moped and a pickup truck in Springfield, Springfield Police said.
This happened around 1:20 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Glenwood Boulevard and Franklin Boulevard.
Police said Tucker Davis, 23, of Eugene appeared to be attempting to execute a left turn on his moped from the northbound center turn lane of Glenwood Boulevard. They said he was not wearing a helmet when he collided with the pickup.
Davis was transported to RiverBend Hospital following the crash and was pronounced dead there, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured and cooperative, they said. Witness accounts reportedly lined up with accounts of the truck driver.
Police said impairment does not seem to be a factor and the crash does not seem criminal in nature.
Glenwood Boulevard was closed for more than four hours following the crash while investigators collected evidence.
