PLEASANT HILL, Ore. -- A two-vehicle crash shut down the westbound lanes of Highway 58 near Pleasant Hill early Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the 84000 block of Ridgeway Road at about 6:15 a.m.

Oregon State Police say a Honda carrying two people was traveling eastbound when it attempted to turn left into the Dari Market parking lot. They say the car hit a patch of ice and slid on the road as it was crossing the westbound lanes. A Jeep traveling westbound saw the Honda and attempted to apply the brakes, but the car could not clear the road before the Jeep slammed into the passenger side.

The passenger in the Honda was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The Honda's driver was transported as well and was said to be stable at the time, but their current status is unknown.

Only one person was in the Jeep, and they were transported to the hospital by family members.
