SPRINGFIELD, Ore.--Members of the Oregon National Guard will deploy to PeaceHealth RiverBend beginning as early as Monday morning, hospital officials announced.

The service members will perform nonclinical roles, such as data entry, food services and supply chain functions.

“We want to extend our sincere thanks to each service member who is providing support at Sacred Heart at RiverBend and other hospitals in Oregon,” Elva Sipin, vice president of operations at RiverBend, said. “These men and women are giving back to their community at a time when their help is most needed.”

Hospital officials said as of Friday, there are 95 COVID-19 patients being cared for at RiverBend.

This is a developing story.
