ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The City of Roseburg is considering a proposal for a new hotel in the area.

According to city documents, the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites would be located near the intersection of NW Edenbower Boulevard and NW Stewart Parkway.

The hotel would be five stories high with 94 rooms and cover more than 50,000 square feet.

The property is owned by Harish Patel, who is a developer based out of Tigard.

Many community members say they’re looking forward to the new development because it could bring more tourism to Roseburg.

“We have Mercy Medical Center here, so we have a lot of different individuals who come to either be with their family or doctors who need to come and stay,” community member Marie Green said.

Right now, the application is still under review by the city, so it is unclear when construction will begin if approved.
