Salem, Ore. - A new transportation package will take effect in a little more than a month and Oregonians will be paying more at the pump and out of their paychecks.

The new transportation tax package totals $3.5 billion dollars in taxes.

Those include vehicle, gas, and bike taxes. Some of that money will be coming directly of out of your paycheck.

The new car sales tax, also known as the vehicle privilege tax, will force dealerships to pay a percentage of the sales price on every new car sold.

The package also features a gas tax increase and a statewide payroll tax of 0.1%.

Oregon will also become the first state to implement a bike tax that'll cost you $15 for bikes more than $200.

While it may sound like a lot, one Lane County Commissioner tells us the benefits will outweigh the cost.

Other than that he says to expect all the new taxes to take effect on January first.
