JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Three newlywed couples claim a man stole from their weddings in Junction City over the weekend.
Lane County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Brian Keith Star from Eugene in connection with the thefts. Starr is being charged with theft, possesion of a weapon and possesion of meth.
KEZI spoke with one of the couples. Janell and Kord Evenson said their wedding day was one of the greatest days of their lives, but that joyous feeling quickly shifted when they came back from their honeymoon on the coast. They discovered most if not all of their cards holding large amounts of cash, checks and gift cards were missing.
The Evensons held their wedding at Kord's grandmother's home on Saturday, with more than 200 of their closest family and friends attending the wedding.
However, one of the guests that attended was not invited. The Evensons said by looking through photos from the wedding, they discovered one man nobody knew holding a bag that may have had the cards that went missing.
The couple said they were devastated when they realized their cards were stolen and are disappointed that someone would do such a thing.
"We are fully aware that we're not going to get those valuables back, that money back, any of that,” Janell said. “It has nothing to do with that. But that was also a way to just have a memory of each person that came. A good wish that they had for us. It makes you sick to your stomach. Your mind is just boggled on why. There's no reason for it. Who could do this? Why would they do this?"
Deputies with the Lane County Sheriff's Office said there were two other reports of thefts at weddings in Junction City over the weekend, as well as another report during a wedding back on July 15.
One of the Evensons' family members made the couple a GoFundMe page to show their support.
