JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Laurel Elementary School went on lockdown Wednesday, but police say no threat was found.

The incident started just before 1 p.m. when police received an incomplete 911 call in which they heard kids screaming. Because the phone had been disconnected, it was capable of calling 911 but police could not call it back. The device was traced back to the elementary school using a GPS signal.

Police responded to 1401 Laurel St. and school staff said a recent “suspicious circumstance” concerned them. The school was placed on lockdown.

Officers from multiple departments secured the perimeter and conducted a room-by-room search. No threats were found and no one had been injured, police said.

The lockdown came just hours after the school’s active-shooter mock exercise.

Police commended the students for their behavior during the lockdown.

The investigation is ongoing.
