EUGENE, Ore. -- Northwest Christian University announced they will be changing their name, effective July 1.
Celebrating 125 years, the institution will soon be known as Bushnell University, in honor of the founding chairman of the Board of Regents when it started as the Eugene Divinity School in 1895.
Officials said Northwest Christian no longer reflects their reach, as they are no longer regional. They said thirteen countries and eighteen states are represented in their student body.
Otherwise, it's business as usual, officials said in a letter. They said their focus remains on faith, innovative spirit and commitment to service, all qualities of Bushnell.
