EUGENE, Ore. -- Crews with the Oregon Department of Transportation are gearing up for the possibility of snow in the Willamette Valley Sunday night.

Angela Beers-Seydel, Spokesperson with ODOT, said crews are on 12-hour shifts so that they have 24-hour coverage during the storm.

She said they have been pre-staging equipment. She said as of Sunday night. they have not put down de-icer. Beers-Seydel said it won't stick because of the rain.

"Once it starts snowing, that's where the crews really fire into action and are out there with sand mixed with de-icer and are plowing and doing all those things you expect them to be doing," said Beers-Seydel.

She said in the metro area, bridges, overpasses and on-and-off ramps tend to freeze faster and have more potential for ice. She said to be extra cautious while driving on those areas.
