SALEM, Ore. -- The Oregon Health Authority is warning Oregonians that wildfires and severe smoke can increase the risk of worsening respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
According to officials, smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases.
OHA says it is important to know if you're at risk, have your medication stocked and limit smoke exposure. They also suggest you pay attention to local air quality reports, refer to visibility guides, keep indoor air as clean as possible, and refrain from using anything that burns like candles and gas stoves.
Experts advise you to steer clear from smoking and vacuuming.
