COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- A state wildlife trooper rescued a young red-tailed hawk that couldn’t fly near Bandon on Feb. 5.

The trooper ended up taking the young red-tailed hawk to the Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene.

The young red-tailed hawk is being treated for starvation and anemia. It will be monitored and cared for in the coming weeks until it can learn to hunt sufficiently to survive.

If you ever find a wild animal in distress, don't try to rescue it yourself. Call Oregon State Police at 800-442-0776.
