CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oregon State University is implementing mandatory mass vaccinations for students who are 25-year-old or younger. The vaccination is now required after a sixth student was diagnosed with the meningococcal disease since November of 2016.
"The health and safety of our students is our number one priority," said Steve Clark, OSU's vice president of university relations and marketing. "We are doing everything we can to halt this outbreak."

The university will hold five consecutive days of meningococcal B vaccination clinics Jan. 9 - 13. They will be held in the Student Experience Center Plaza outside the Memorial Union and will run from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The clinics will help students meet the new vaccination requirement, which includes two separate doses that must be given at least a month apart. Students must have both doses by Feb. 15.
"This means students must begin the vaccination process now if they have not already done so," Clark said. "Without receiving the requisite doses, students will not be able to register for spring term classes or receive final grades for winter term."
