CORVALLIS, Ore. --- Oregon State University is defending its president after a bombshell report released this week alleged that F. King Alexander mishandled sexual abuse claims during his seven year tenure at LSU.

On Friday, LSU released the findings of an in-depth internal investigation which resulted in the suspension of two highly ranked athletic department officials. University of Kansas also placed head football coach Les Miles on administrative leave after reports that allegedly sexually harassed and abused female workers during his time at LSU.

The allegations stem from multiple incidents that happened over the course of several years under Alexander's leadership. The report alleges that Alexander knew about the sexual misconduct claims and did nothing about them.

Alexander was hired at Oregon State University in 2020 and the school is backing up its president.

“We do not want sexual misconduct in our community. We want to support survivors and those affected by sexual misconduct,” VP of University Relations & Marketing Steve Clark said.

Alexander released a statement saying his, "commitment to preventing sexual misconduct is longstanding and includes creating LSU's first internal Title IX office in 2016."

William is a senior at Oregon State University who chose to keep his last name anonymous out of privacy concerns. He said the administration should look further into Alexander’s involvement and take this report seriously.

“It's hard to believe that a president of any organization would have no knowledge of such egregious conduct going on," William said.

Alexander's position within the administration does not appear to be in danger at the moment. Oregon State University has made no mention of an internal investigation of him either.
